Professional Oversight

Financial, legal, and regulatory compliance issues are inevitable and often require interfacing with third parties.  Engaging with these outside professionals and regulatory authorities is time consuming, can be confusing, and can interfere with management’s ability to focus on day-to-day operation of the business.  Muir & Company understands these third parties and we help our clients coordinate and manage attorneys, CPAs, bankers, lenders, and/or government authorities.   This allows our clients to maintain their business focus while ensuring these matters are handled effectively and efficiently.

 Issue:

A small commercial real estate investment and management firm was overwhelmed.  The workload associated with signing a new client, evaluating several properties for acquisition, and disposing of another property led the firm to consider hiring a permanent employee to get through the crunch.

Solution:

Muir & Company met with the firm’s principals to evaluate their situation.  The firm accepted our recommendation to use Muir & Company’s professional oversight and financial services to deal with its interim needs until it could truly assess what staff should be added.  Muir & Company performed financial due diligence, analysis, document review, and document abstracting for the acquisition opportunities to identify those with greatest promise.  We helped the firm execute the property disposition by managing, coordinating, and communicating with the outside professionals involved in the property sale.  To help the firm onboard the new client, Muir & Company provided accounting, reporting, budgeting, and cash management services as needed until the real estate firm’s operations stabilized.

Outcome:

The client successfully navigated the crunch in a cost effective and efficient manner, adding appropriate levels of staff once things settled down.  Muir & Company’s professional oversight services permitted the property sale to proceed smoothly.  Document abstracting, financial due diligence, and analysis services provided the firm’s principals with valuable information they needed to negotiate and close the deals on favorable terms.  The new client was delighted with the onboarding process and subsequently transferred all its property management, acquisition and disposition, and leasing business to the real estate firm.
