Accounting & Financial Management Information Systems
Successful accounting & financial management information systems capture critical data. When they don’t, it compromises management’s ability to manage the business. Muir & Company works with its clients to analyze, then set-up or revise their accounting and financial management information systems to capture the information the business needs to set objectives, analyze results, and achieve financial goals.

Accounting & Financial Management Information Systems, Financial Management, Service Improvement
Issue:
A customer of a regional office of an established commercial real estate development and management firm was in the process of implementing a new pc-based system. The change would result in operational and reporting requirements that the firm’s private, mainframe accounting & financial management system could not support.
Solution:
Muir & Company met with the regional office director and discovered that meeting the customer’s needs was just part of the picture. The office wanted to expand its relationship with the customer and attract new customers. Muir & Company recommended an investment in technology to support that vision. Muir & Company collaborated with the firm’s information technology department to design, install, and implement a local area network in the regional office for pc-based accounting & financial management information systems. Muir & Company set up the client required pc-based system and organized a team of leasing, operations, and finance staff in the regional office. We then worked with the team to design and implement a reporting system capable of providing critical financial and management information needed by the team and the customer.
Outcome:
The customer was delighted with the responsiveness of the firm and expanded its relationship with the regional office. The regional office promoted the new system which attracted new customers. The local area network and pc-based accounting & financial management system proved so successful that it was quickly replicated in the firm’s other regional offices, ultimately replacing the firm’s mainframe system.
